salvation - "how to"
Why is the question,
"Have you been born again" life's most important consideration?
John
3:3:
Jesus answered and said unto him,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except
a
man be born again, he cannot
see the kingdom
of God .
Romans 8:9: But ye
are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit
of God dwell in you. Now if any man
have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
What is eternal
life?
John 17:3: And
this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and
Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
John 3:16,17: For God so
loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God
sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world
through him might be saved.
How does one know
that Jesus loves him enough to save him?
John 3:16: For God so
loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Romans 5:8: But God commendeth his
love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
How does one invite
Jesus to come into one's life?
John 1:12,13: But as many as received
him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that
believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the
flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Romans 10:8-13: But what saith it?
The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the
word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him
from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For
the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For
there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord
over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call
upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
What happens when a
person confesses that Jesus is his Savior and that Jesus is the Son of
God?
1 John 4:14-16: And we have seen
and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him,
and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to
us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in
him.
Can a person know
for certain that he/she has Christ living within?
1 John 3:24: And he that keepeth
his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that
he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
1 John 5:7-13: For there are
three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy
Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in
earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in
one. If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for
this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that
believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth
not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God
gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal
life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he
that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written
unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that
ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of
God.
What did Paul say
concerning his assurance of salvation in Jesus Christ?
2 Timothy 1:12: For the which
cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I
know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that
which I have committed unto him against that day.
What guarantee does
Christ give to those in whom He comes to live?
John 10:28-30: And
I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall
any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is
greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's
hand. I and my Father are one.
The apostle Paul possessed this confidence that Christ lived within his
heart. How did Paul experience the Christian life as a result of his new
life?
Galatians 2:20: I am
crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth
in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of
the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
How should the
believer behave now that Christ lives within?
2 Corinthians 5:14: For the love
of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for
all, then were all dead . . . .
What should be the
primary characteristic of every believer's life?
Mark 12:30,31: And thou
shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and
with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first
commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
If you understand what these verses are saying, you can pray right now
to receive Christ as you Savior and Lord. Simply pray this prayer honestly unto the Lord:
Dear
God, I know that I am a sinner. I am sorry that I have sinned against you.
I believe that you died on the cross for my sin of unbelief. Please
forgive me of my sin and come into my life to live. Take control of all
that I am so I may live for you. Amen.
If you honestly prayed this prayer to the Lord, now you ought to thank Him
for saving your soul.
As
a result of asking the Lord to take your life, you have a home in heaven.
Jesus said, The thief cometh not, but for
to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have
life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John
10:10). You now have eternal life as you
face the future, as well as abundant life in the here and now.
